The Pilates Method of Body Conditioning is a system of exercises developed by JOSEPH H. PILATES almost 80 years ago. It is a series of movements and exercises which develop strength, flexibility and alignment of the entire body by utilizing more than core strength. The technique is centered on using deep postural muscles known as the “Powerhouse” which is composed of the abdominals, buttocks, hips, inner thighs, shoulder muscles and lower back muscles. Pilates exercises are specific and well-constructed movements that are performed on the mat anddifferent specially-designed pieces of apparatus. Through progressive, gradual repetition of exercises, one can achieve the necessary rhythm, control and coordination that dictates your movements restructuring the physique to achieve its utmost balance, symmetry and stability.
